Idlewild are a Scottish rock band formed in Edinburgh in 1995, led by Roddy Woomble. They evolved from frantic indie-punk to expansive, folk-tinged rock across albums like 100 Broken Windows and The Remote Part. American English was their biggest hit. Woomble has also pursued a celebrated solo career exploring Scottish folk traditions.
